    Hello,
thanks for your interest in NextFEM Designer. Unfortunately, Mises material is not currently applicable to beam elements, and it has been tested on shells and solid.
You can always transform the beam to shell elements by the command Edit / Extrude sections.
Pick a proper discretizazion lenght under Options/Solver tab/Mesh and output preferences box/Mesh size before to go.
Please find attached a sample screen. Then you can set the nonlinear analysis.
    Hope this helps

    EDIT:
I forgot to mention that the proper thickness has to be assigned to the generated shells.

    Hi Marcello,
thanks for reporting this. We’re constantly improving GUI settings also for font magnification over 100%. Initially, 100% would be required for installer, then it has been corrected and now it’s fully compatible.
In Designer, we’ll introduce the compatibility also for Model Data window in the next patch.

    regards

    Hello,
we have compression-only (hook) and tension-only (gap) springs that works even without license. FOr their characterization, please refer to https://www.nextfem.it/it/a-survey-on-non-linear-analysis-in-nextfem-designer-part-1/
Since they are free, you can use them in your NL analyses.
Let us know if you need further help.

    Hello,
the getMemberLength returns 0 because its argument must be a member (see https://www.nextfem.it/api/html/M_NextFEMapi_API_addMember.htm) and has nothing to do with a single beam.

position1 and position2 are the initial and final position of loading. You can use 0 and nf.getElementProperty(beamID, “lun”).

In the attached image I see the checkbox just under the writing about privacy policy. By now we cannot reproduce your error, we suppose it’s depending on the system text size (e.g. 125%, which is default on 4k screens).

Did you updated to v1.9.1.0? If not, update now – a patch is needed. Lite version won’t be updated.
In case you have trouble installing it, please download the full installer again.

    Hello,
there’s no difference between Lite of full version for import/export for Abaqus format. If you encounter problems, share us the model if you can. You can upload it at the bottom of this page https://www.nextfem.it/it/help-support/

First of all, you have to use the version of rSpectrum included in NextFEM Designer (seek in the installation folder). The ones provided in the ‘OpenSees tools’ page is not up-to-date.
If this not solve your problem, please attach model or send it via the form at the bottom of https://www.nextfem.it/it/help-support/

    Hello,
is the model analysis for the same model running fine?

    Hello, please find answers below:
    1) NextFEM Designer has a completely automatical automeshing, that occurs only for linearly variable distibuted load on beams. Stations are automatically adjusted accordingly (e.g., in Verifications, the 5 stations of an internally-meshed elements are automatically interpolated from results)
    2) there’s no need to mesh beams manually, unless you want a higher a resolution in results using uniform distributed loads. In any case, see command Edit / Divide or merge.

    hope this helps, regards

    Dear Francesco,
    thanks for your appreciation.
Regarding your issue, we know there are some opening issue for users running Windows 7, mainly related to memory usage. To solve this, activate the option “Safe mode for opening” in Tools/Options/Solver tab.
    Hope this helps,
    regards
