Home › Forums › NextFEM Designer support forum › Shell in plane of loads got different results
I modeling a cantilever beams subjected to end loads with shell element, looking out from references of both solver seems has the same citations. However, running the same problems with OOFEM solver shown lower values than expected. Not really sure, are discrepancy due to drilling dof’s formulation were it being implemented?
There’s no large discrepancy in case of out plane force (bending), except in sign conventions. OpenSees solver output graphically reported as reverse sign for moment (area force).
Shell results in OpenSees are extrapolated from GPs to nodes, internally in Designer.
There’s no discrepancies in the results obtained – I kindly ask to use less-alarming topic titles.
We’ll have a look on out-of-plane moments sign.
EDIT: consider also that shell formulations may differ.
