Greetings hive,
Does anybody know if i can analyze a small aluminum boat hull with the free version that i have linked to my Rhino CAD Software? I would like to be able to change the material thickness in order to strengthen the hull.
Hello,
sure you can – in Rhino, the hull has to be a simple mesh to be imported correctly via NextFEM-Grasshopper plugin.
Then you can assign thickness from Sections mask, or do a simple parametric design with a few python lines.
Thanks for the tip on the Sections Mask. I will definitely look for that when i start reviewing the tutorials and help files.
Since you mentioned Sections… Not sure if this is the same thing but i get this Elements error that some nodes dont have a valid section. See attached. I assume that i need to refine/simplify my mesh but i thought i’d ask here.
Hello,
that’s exactly what I told in my previous reply – you have to assign a planar section (thickness) to shell in order to proceed with analysis. You can find it in Edit / Sections mask.
