I received a SAP2000 text file (.$2k file format), but I cannot import it.
I used the file>import option, and I selected the file type SAP2000 text file, but the file I want to import does not appear in the selection window.

I wold appreciate any advice you could give me on how to solve this.

    Dear jalogi2,
thanks for your interest in NextFEM Designer.
Regarding the import of a SAP2000 file, not all the feature in SAP2000 files are supported. Please see here for a list of supported items.

Thank you very much for the prompt reply and for the link.

I understand that not all the features in SAP2000 files are supported by NextFEM, but my problem is that I cannot even select the .s2K file in the import menu.
I click in file > import, and after selecting “sap2000 text file” option, and going to the folder where my SAP2000 .$2k file is stored, no file appears to be selected. The .$2k file is sotred there, but the NextFEM software seems not to recognize it as a .$2k file.

    Dear jalogi2,
as you can see, the extension .$2k is different from .s2k. The first one is a backup file automatically generated from SAP2000, the latter is a full export of the model. If you are sure you want to import the .$2k, rename it to .s2k.

    Dear alrino,

Thank you very much for your quick reply and for the clear explanation.
    I understand.
I renamed it to .s2k, but the file could not be imported.
If the model includes features that are not supported by NextFem, is it possible that the software cannot open the file? Or it will just import the file without the features that are not supported?

    Dear jalogi2,
the unsupported features are simply neglected during import.
Please check also if the s2k file is plain text file or not.
To help further, please send the file to info@nextfem.it
