Home › Forums › NextFEM Designer support forum › How to assign a Pretension Load to a beam element
An error occurs when trying to apply 10kN pretension to a beam element according to the procedure below.
I would appreciate it if you could tell me how to solve this problem.
1. Select the beam element to which I want to apply pretension.
2. Select Assign/Loads/Pretension in the NextFEM
3. After selecting Load Case, select Pretension Load Value as 10kN.
4. When you press Apply, “Not a valid value!” appears.
Hello,
NextFEM Designer works with “.” (dot) as decimal separator. In your screenshot, you have 10,000 as load value, you have to use “10.000”.
Let us know if this solves the problem.
Hello,
I confirmed that I entered 10.000 as the load value, i.e. the decimal separator. But still can’t solve the problem.
Tensioned beams have increased stiffness due to tension. I tried to model a tensioned beam by giving pretension to the beam, but I was having difficulty giving pretension.
I would appreciate it if you could tell me how to model a tensioned beam in NextFEM.
Hello,
we don’t support stiffness changes due to pre-tension.
