hi, i’m facing a problem puzzling me for a few days. It’s a skew plate with structured quad, unstructured triangular and mixed quads in a single file. OOFEM solver given consistent in result between each other models, however OpenSees did not. Probably, it’s a problem in solver limitations due to model separation since a single model with quad mesh shown expected results.
attached screenshot and input files, thanks in advances.
Hello,
OOFEM is tested directly by us, while we perform on OpenSees a limited testing. Please consider also that the moment per unit lenght you see in opensees are retrieved directly from stress recovery performed in post-processing (in fact, OS will not give the stress in nodes but only in GPs).
Can you please share the model in order to make a further investigation? thanks
or maybe shell element type being used in default of NextFEM also problematic when mixing, exporting to Tcl shown ShellMITC4 for quad and ShellNLDKGT for tria. Is this possible to select another element type i.e ShellNLDKGQ, ShellDKGQ or ASDShellQ4 for quad and ShellDKG, ASDShellT3 or ShellANDeS for tria?
Unfortunately it’s not possible to change the pre-defined element to be used. If you can share you model we can check further.
